Nature is so healing and your story brings the reader out into nature with you. Listening to the birds and just taking in the peacefulness is good for the soul.

-Thanks for the notes, Jesse, and for sharing the story.
-I enjoyed reading it. It flows well with vivid details of your say with your friend.
-I can only imagine what those Sequoia trees look like!
-I like the image you use to describe the experience:
"I knew I was home when I could smell the living spirit of the trees" and
"Birds trilled arpeggios singing songs about how nature came to be."
-I am glad you have this friendship and share things in common.
-A very good conclusion to your story, too.

I'm glad you're getting out, Jesse, and I'm also glad you have a friend like David. Nature itself is a balm. All living things share a harmony and a rhythm. Nature recharges our batteries.
I'm glad you're working toward your goal. I know you'll reach it. I hope David does, too.
Peace, Lee

Good morning, Jesse!
I was with you and David on your adventure. How wonderful that the two of you were able to visit Freshwater Park. Sounds absolutely peaceful and welcoming.
My favorite paragraph:
Our shared friendship, and love of nature, keep us going back to where the trees, birds, and other creatures reach out to us and offer peace and tranquility.
Two little edits suggested:
I said to David(,) "can (Can) you hear the sweetness of the songs from the birds?" He answered sadly(,) "no, (No,) I can't." It was at this moment that I realized how we shared disabilities, he could not hear the birds and I could not walk.
Thank you for sharing!

Talking about stopping and smelling the roses, you guys went up and beyond that. Thank you for this beautiful Ode to taking the time to enjoy nature.
"...smell the living spirit of the trees." [Love this line, very poetic.]

Yes, Wayne, nature has healing powers and David and I seek nature to cure all of our woes and sorrows from living on the edge.
David is a wonderful companion and friend.
Thanks for all your good wishes.

This was about so much more than a walk in nature. It's about seeing the world through a different perspective. Yours is going places that are normally not wheelchair accessible. His is the world of silence. I really enjoyed this. Gretchen

I am so glad you wrote about a beautiful day in Freshwater Park. Your choice of words gives the feeling of peace, joy, and relaxation. Sitting on picnic benches under large Sequoia trees sounds so delightful. It's good you and David compliment each other. Hopefully you will soon be telling us you are walking. Best wishes on your healing journey.

Thanks, LJ. I will keep you updated on my healing journey and look forward to walking at least with a walker very soon!
On Wednesday I will be walking with a walker down the hallway to the end. I cannot wait!
Thank you for your encouraging review and for hitting the nail on the head with this one. I am forever grateful for the support of so many of you here on Fan Story. Thanks!
Have a lovely evening.

Hello, Jesse,
David sounds like a good friend. I know the feeling you mentioned, I get it too. Also, when I go to the beach. The ocean has that effect on me. Well done.

Jesse, this lovely piece of prose made me smile. I could feel your joy and sense of peace in every descriptive line. Isn't it wonderful that our differences can bring us together as much as our similarities?!
