This is a great poem. I love the picture you chose. I also love the words you chose to rhyme with. "Nature's paintbrush" is wonderful. You've created vibrant imagery.

This was very creative with the clever rhymes of paintbrush and blush. I hope you win the contest!
The picture is beautiful with gorgeous colors of leaves representing autumn.

Jesse, thank for the good wishes, we shall see?

I like the way the first seven syllables go together, then the second set of seven go together - put them all together and you have the required fourteen and a whole picture of an autumn evening.
Makes me miss New England.
Very nicely done - good luck!

Pam, having seen the NE landscape in fall it rivals my mountain retreat in western NC.

A beautiful photo and an excellent 2-10-2 to accompany it, with smooth and unforced rhyme. The presentation is pleasing as well. Best wishes for your entry.

Both your poem and the picture you've chosen create a great ensemble.
I love the rhythm created by the similarity between the first line and the last and the fact that the three lines rhyme.
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

I love how with such a few amount of words you managed to get three personifications and love lyrical thoughts of beauty. The picture complements the poem well. I hope it does well in the contest.

Wow! What a lovely poem. You have painted a beautiful description of the fall leaves. I am in CA and the leaves are barely starting to turn. We are experiencing 80 + degree weather. Bummer. Not like it was when I was growing up. I enjoyed reading!

Midi, thank you so much, as an expat of The bay area I know very well the California autumns. I prefer my new locale in the mountains of western NC 😊🤗🤗

Comment from Frank Malley
"Autumn" is an excellent brief poem. In 14 syllables, this poem captures three fall events: the hushing of leaves as day winds die down; the cooling of the evening; and the "paintbrush" work nature performs on autumn leaves. And the poem's choice of words is hushed, full of the 'sh' sound so much associated with fallen leaves.

It's challenging to find terse captures of sense. You did it. All the best. Frank
