Your vivid imagination is at work again. This story is about an actual practice of some medical practitioners. I experienced something similar with my aging father before he died. However, your story has a surprising and entertaining ending. Well done.

Thank you for the review. It is fiction, but there are elements of truth. Terry.

This story, This Time It's Personal, leaves me with the sneaking suspicion that Doctor Patel may have had some help losing his hand, getting drunk, and driving his car. Don't mess with Jeb Woods' mom.

Well, I would say Dr. Patel had a visit from Karma. I enjoyed your
fictional story, Terry. You gave readers great details and developed
the characters well. You expressed your thoughts and feelings well.
It does seem there is a lot of Medicare fraud happening in real time.
I would be against that kind of surgery for a patient of advanced age.
That doctor (and I use that term loosely) was an opportunist. The twist
at the end and the song title were unexpected, but like I said Karma.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

This post kept me thinking. The young the doctor got what he deserved! Obviously, what he was doing was unethical. The sad part was that the other doctors backed him up by not reporting him to the medical associations. My ex husband had the chair for Business Ethics at Wake Forest University. I have his book Questions and Answers about Business ethics if you would like to look at it. I have been thumbing through to get a good definition of ethics.

I'm not happy that this is fiction. Why, might you ask? but probably not necessary. Because I am sure this type of medical exists and it's not right. Thank you for sharing this story with us.

Barbara, thank you for reading. It is a fiction story. I am not a lawyer. No harm was done to anyone I know. A writer it has been said writes what he knows. Terry.

Lesson: Know who you are messing with before you start to mess around. To me there are few types of people lower than those who target and abuse the elderly. My mother was abused by my niece and her husband who were supposed to be taking care of her. I got rid of them and replaced them with my older sister. They now have control of her, but they tread lightly because they know the whole family is watching. If they step out of line, I or one of my children will lower the boom.

Terry, your subjects and your stories continue to surprise and entertain! Just in time for Halloween, a scary, tense, and sense of real life drama. Well-written as always. If I were going to make any suggestions, it would be to use a few less names in conversation. It seems to me to create small, unimportant pauses in the dialogue and detracts from the 'realness' of the action. Love the story as always. ann

Ann, thank you very much for the six stars! I am delighted you found the story entertaining. I have been criticized for not using enough names, may be I took it too far. Thanks for the input. Terry.

Thank you again for the six stars! I must admit the picture you use with the steely non emotional look gave me the idea to use your name, misspelled to protect the innocent. Thank you for reading. Terry.
