That's a good one, Wendy. We'll be fighting it out in the contest. I don't think dads pay as much attention to their kids today as they did when we were growing up.

Well, you'll beat me on metre!! I haven't seen a lot of other entries but I have noted that there are a lot who can write excellent and imaginative children's poems.
My father was not at all like this - but my son is, with his three little girls. He's very involved with all their daily care and routines, and also fun. I think I modelled it on him.

This is a lovely children's poem. It made me think of when my friend's daughter (now 12) was small enough to be carried on her dad's shoulders. Dads can definitely be fun.

Yes, they are very lucky to have dads like this. My own father wasn't at all like this, but my son is, with his three little girls. Thanks so much for a fine review.

I was an unabashed Daddy's girl. Everybody knew it, and I was at my most joyous playing with him in our special rough and tumble but oh so sweet way! What I wouldn't give to have him back again ~ so I could tell him just how special all of those memories are!

I really like this lovely poem. The images it creates of "horse-play" with Daddy are classic. I like the idea of the final stanza, but somehow the words don't flow as easily as in the earlier stanzas. You always write beautiful poems about your grandchildren. Thanks for sharing.
