It sounds like you are a good influence on Andrew and his family and he is going through that teenage rebellious stage and staying in his rooms playing video games is rather unhealthy and unfortunately I can see my own Grandson going that way and he is only six! You have experience of life and can understand the family dynamic here Lisa, although getting too close might result in you being rejected by this family and I hope that does not happen as Andrew is enjoying your company. It sounds complicated and that is unfortunately how life is sometimes and different generations living under the same roof all have different problems and Andrew being the youngest often means you can be last to receive any attention. You show such great understanding here, love Dolly x

Lisa, I have enjoyed meeting Andrew through several of your posts. Your evolving relationship is wonderful as it involves his whole family. Indeed friendship is wonderful therapy and it's so great you can spend your Saturdays with him. He obviously cares for you as witnessed by the book dedication. Rod

This is a wonderful write. I enjoyed the descriptive language used as it pulled me in straight away, led me through and didn't let go until the end. The message left is a strong one that I hope your readers will receive..

First Happy birthday!
You are a wonderful and much needed support for Andrew.
Years from now he will realize who sheltered him from the storm and helped him through difficult times.
Best wishes

My last six of the week is yours, LisaMay. This is a wonderful essay, lively, thoughtful, funny, sad and most of all, loving. Andrew is lucky to have you in his life. Teenage years are difficult in the best of circumstances, and the deck is stacked higher in Andrew's case. I'm sure your life experience and intuitive sense will guide you in your conversations with him. Speaking as one grandma to another, it's important to avoid being judgmental with him, he'll be getting enough of that from his biological family.
Best of luck in the contest. Happy Easter!
Stay safe and blessed, Julia
