A very moving piece Sally. It is weird how people can just forget all of the occurrences of September 11th. Glad that you were able to bring up those points about what happened 19 years ago along with the experiences you had with this intrepid young man who died so tragically. well done.

Our country is such a mess. There are too many extreme people. Why do folks think they have to take one side or the other. We all came together after 9/11! This is a lovely posting, Sally. Hugs, Lou

Oh, how easily a nation forgets, my lady... now cops are the bad guys.... think it might have to do with the age of the rabble-rousers: they are the RESULT of fear that was borne on that day: parents went from guiding to helicoptering and even hovercrafting and its been a wave and a nod to an over-bearing STATE ever since then...
Never, ever let a good crisis go to waste, even if you have to play the long game to get control..... and make no mistake, the long game is in the end of the third/early beginning of the fourth quarter.
Thanx for the beautiful reminder here, Lady Sal - take care over there and don't give in! ;) Yvette

This is a sad and heartbreaking write. How disheartening it would be for the fallen officers from that day to see the disrespect of today. What a good video to add!

It's hard to believe there's a whole generation out there who don't remember that day. When I heard it on the car radio I said something like "Yeah, right, like that's really happening. They can't shut down New York, and certainly not the whole country." Then I saw the pictures on the more serious news channels and I was totally in shock. It took some time for it to sink in. One thing is for sure, it's a day I will never forget.

Hi Sally,
We don't want to forget heroes, do we? They perished trying to save us. They were policemen, firemen, ambulance drivers, paramedics, nurses, and even your neighbor. Let's not forget those men who fought in two world wars, the Korean War, the Viet Nam War, the Middle east conflicts. I watched Braveheart, Mel Gibson & others depicting heroes who fought against tyranny. Lately, I've been watching "Outlander", and now into Season 3... Scots fighting for freedom from British rule. These events remind us to stand up for what we believe in, for what's important, what really matters. Whether we realize it or not, we ARE affected. There are terrorists everywhere. And we have to keep vigilant. Let's not fall asleep!
This is a good piece on that sad day when the Towers fell, and a country felt Pearl Harbor all over again. It had a great effect on Canadians, too. The only other time I felt so vulnerable was when President Kennedy was assassinated.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Me, too and on this. I came I to our apartment and saw my mother crumbled on the couch crying over the the news of JFK's assassination. Some things stick with us forever I suppose. Thank you for your heartfelt review and kind comments, dear Kimbob.

I am hoping our cancel culture doesn't attempt to rewrite this history. It is a time that we must never forget. I attempted, very carefully, to explain it to my first graders yesterday. Thank you for sharing.

You speak for all of us who have family or friends in law enforcement or are first responders. These days, this dangerous job is a thankless task as the news media does nothing but attack and attack the police and fan the flames of racial animosity for political purposes. But where would we be without the men and women in these jobs? Your poignant rendering of the 9/11 moments put it all in stark relief. estory

Thank you for sharing your experience with a brave young officer and his badge that was not just a "piece of metal". I will remember him every time I put on a mask. We must not forget the dedicated hearts. Sighs- Joan
