Well, if I was not already so darn late reviewing this, I'd slap a six on it so fast, Umay would have to share her olives with me!

yes olives make sumptuous my afternoon snack." (*grin*)
(I loved all of this sweet poem, but especially the wonderful meter! Darn star-rating system - a six wouldn't do a bit of good to promote this now. :(( )

OOOOHHHHHH!!!!!!Wendeeee, I love you, I love you so much, I wish I could reach out and kiss you and touch :) Another one, Another MASTERPIECE. This would go with me as a teacher in my box of goodies with sparkly stuff and surprises and books like Dr Seuss and Roald Dahl and PPM ( Puff/ Magic Dragon people) when I taught children with disabilities, then English as a Second Language. Then I would insist as a Lecturer that my Student Teachers had your Book as part of their Magic Box at Whatever Age they were teaching from 0 - ME!
I have to tell you my Grand-Niece Lilia also ate olives from the age of three :) Anita

Very nice piece! Fun anecdote and clever use of rhyme. Good rhythmic flow. This poem is a good way to share your Greek culture with child readers, some of whom may be Greek and can relate. Sampling foods from other cultures is always a good introduction to the country and its traditions. Children could appreciate that.

I think Melbourne has the largest Greek population of any city after Athens and there are large numbers of Greeks here in Adelaide too, so all of these delicious foods are well known to me! We have preserved and bottled our own Kalamata olives this year, so perhaps Umay would like to come and visit! A delightful addition to this book of yours that has such a wonderfully multicultural mix of young characters in it.

If my count is correct, Wendy (it has been known to be a bit off from time to time), then all we have left of your wonderful alphabetic, well rhymed poems such as the one here pertaining to little Umay Ulessys , is "V", "W", "X", "Y", and "Z".
Perhaps after the last five are completed you could do something like all of the fifty states in America.

Hey Dean, Thanks for spending time with Umay. Actually, the book is now complete. I am far to ADD to do the thing in alphabetical order. I will get back to you on the 50 states, although one state of confusion or disrepair poem might work for all 50 these days. - Wendy

Hi Charlie, actually the book has not yet been published. Umay was the last of the 26 to be written. In the first posted chapters, I did claim that my target group was children and former children, so perhaps that lets me off the hook? I suppose I assumed that parents or teachers would read these with their kids at first and share the learning experience of new words from different cultures. There will be an appendix at the back of the book with pronunciations and other fun facts. But you have given me something to think about. - Wendy
