A very well-written poem/song lyrics. It may seem we did not succeed in what we have fight for our whole lives, but the hope never ends and it is not over until we lay our head down and breathed our last breath.

This is certainly open to all sorts of interpretations. Is the lover's quarrel over, and now they can make up and move on? Is the war over and all is lost? Is life over and peace now comes? I could go on. Looks like you had a couple of ideas in mind, but this really could have so many more.
