Hi, Grayness! Thought I'd stop by.
The title itself instills worry, given that so many of us, I suspect, have our negative experiences within our over-medicated society.
Works as excellent satire of the "wonder" drugs that promise so much, deliver so little, and carry powerful side-effects that are worse than the original complaint.
Possibilities for revision:
it's hard to know where verse/poetry leaves off and prose begins (my story poem you recently reviewed may dangerously merge into the prose camp), but this does seem to me really more prose than poetry in that it seems to not have enough poetic devices of rhyme, meter, imagery, alliteration, etc.
Its most striking feature is the irony/satire.
You might consider reclassifying as prose/satire. Just a personal response that is not at all infallible.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Stacie Ann for your professional perspectives. I will give this some serious consideration as I generally only write poetry and usually just list my work as such automatically. Many thanks for your guidance here! Vance

Most clever, my dear. Not only is it on target and a good message, but a spoof of the commercials where side effects take longer to list than the benefits. Love:
Caution is advised for use when standing in moving vehicles LOL

Very clever poetry this advertisement for HUGS. I think it may get a unanimous endorsement although I am not sure about politicians in this political climate and probably ISIS not at all.

Thanks Alan for your brilliant review and I'm not at all interested in any political feedback from those who would not get the message anyway! All the best and have a wonderful day! Hugs! Vance

You know, come to think of it I've never had to pay for Laffitoff either, but sometimes it's a bitter pill to swallow, lol...
This is very clever, my funny friend. Thank you for supplying me with me daily laugh. No, if you'll excuse me, I have to run. I now have to renew my prescription thanks to you! Ha-hahahahahaaaaa...

Dear Dean: Thanks so much for this enlightening and uplifting review! It's an honor to hear from you and I'm feeling pretty puffed up about making you laugh with absolutely not one drop of blood, not one glimmer of a sharp and waiting dagger, nary a pointed tooth, missing eye, lightening bolt...so wow! I'm struttin' over here like a windup tin soldier!! But, hummm' thinking all things over, I might still have to insist on having you patted down before I'd risk giving you a hug in any dark and gloomy environment! OK....here comes a "virtual" hug anyway, because I owe you many for all the great laughs you've given me! Vance

You're more than welcome, Vance. The pleasure was all mine. ~Dean :}

someone I know came up with "damitol" (damn it all). A rock group came up with pheneobarbitols (fiend-o Barbie dolls) How fortunate "atime" exists as a medical suffix for YOUR contribution (and a good job of using every "side effect") As an admitted homophobe(mentioned at your 'tale end' /tail end AND as having recently gotten a long hug from the opposite species after a long dry spell) I WHOLELISTICALLY "get" what you are saying here and am relaxedly reviewing (basking in the warmth of your words) instead of analyzing the icyhot applications-in other words, YOU gently applied - and I'm too comfortable to get up and give a sermon on the ingredients label. STILL 200% SATISFACTION WITH YOUR PRESENTATION

Thanks so much Val for your (always CAPTIVATING AND PONDERABLE) Reviews! You are certainly a master of turning on the contemplation engines in other's minds and doing so in such an elegant and profound way!...Apologies for my somewhat subtle "shot" intended at "some/" generally "non-thinking" members (I've met) (of entities) I would expect to find fault with anything which may be considered "right" under any conditions. Generally, I paint with a micro-fine brush so THEY can know it's origin. Glad you know it's not meant to "splatter" on you! PRECIOUS FRIEND! Vance

Well dear Vance,
Your witty, insightful, not to mention irrefutably physical, emotional, and
psychological benefits of such a simple, yet incomparably powerful act
as hugs, is so true! Human hands were the initially intended as indispensable
forms of contact, protection, comfort and consolation to each other, by our
benevolent Creator. It's the first immediate action when a baby is born, a
stabilizing and reassuring one through childhood and adulthood; and last
tender act upon cessation of life. There is nothing ever equal to it or
beyond it. No comparable replacements.
In European countries, such as I am from, (Croatia) hugging is much more
common and eagerly and happily indulged in, by all ages. In US it seems
to be underestimated and many seem to prefer to avoid hugs and hugging,
and are much more aloof and indifferent about it..so it seems to me since
I've lived here. Yet it is so incredibly precious and pleasurable. More than
most realize!
Of course the medical and psychological professions would loose a lot
of business and patients if they endorsed and encouraged such a simple
medicinal effect; calming and comforting effect even if all else fails.
Heaven forbid these supposedly 'human professions' ever try to regulate
or dispense false substitutes for hugs and hugging! They are ever so
anxious to spoil what is free and beneficial beyond their powers or meds
The cures cited hugs and hugging can and do freely provide and enable
benefits of, so HUMOROUSLY enumerated, is priceless and precious!!!!!!!!
By the way, Have you had your hugs today? Gladly share mine!
Blessings and best wishes always, Ronni
