This is a very well written poem about how brave this bird is. you used very good descriptive words and very good imagery. I don't think there are many that would be that brave. I enjoyed your words and the art work. Blessings, Teri

Wow! This floored me for a lot of reasons. What an ending with a pow, right in the kisser, rhetorical query. This is powerful and commanding in stature as a poem. You have such bearing and composure here, the work of a great, great soul and poet. Well done, Jimi. Bruce.

He just does : )) Love that line!
When I was a young fella I just did, and look where I finally ended up... 11,617 miles from home : )) Of course I traveled by car, bus, train, boat and airplane to get here BUT I made it, ha ha.
An incredible feat of stamina and endurance for sure Jimi. It puts the youth of the day to shame, some can't even walk to the mailbox never mind run or FLY : )

Moana just did a three week outward bounds course...No phones, computers, technology etc. running everyday, cold showers, mountain climbing, trekking, kayaking, sailing and a half marathon at the end of it. 140 people on the course, 140 people running the marathon at the end, Moana finished 14th, she was in a masters group of 14 adults, almost all of the other people on the course were under 24. She said she could not believe how unfit the young ones were, and how much they bitched about EVERYTHING.

Amazing, the lengthy journey's these tiny birds are programmed to make. I was reading about birds like this in a National Geographic, awe inspiring. This is a beautiful, and informative poem.
Blessings....

Jimi,

Wellll....we don't actually have to say, right? heehee I will admit, though, that I am no amazing hummingbird (though I often like to pretend I only way 3/4s of an ounce.)

This was such a fun and thoughtful piece. You always intrigue and surprise. Thanks!

Hi Jimi
I have to admire birds that fly south for the winter. I can't even imagine how they fly 2400 miles though, over seemingly endless ocean. Perhaps it's not courage for them, just survival. I think the winter birds are courageous too. I love to watch my chickadees at the feeder during the winter months. A snow storm doesn't fizz them a bit. In fact, I see more of them at the feeder during a winter storm. They are amazing.
Powerful poem. It challenges us to be tougher. Sometimes this life permits us to go "soft". I know that most of us couldn't do what our forefathers did. That's for sure. We've got it too easy.
My favorite lines,
"With strength more dynamic
than Samson's grip, more powerful
than Superman's locomotive"
Thanks for sharing!
Hugs
Kimbob

Hi Jimi, I missed this one and I am so sorry. I had a mucked up few days, is all. Isn't nature grand? One small bird with hope and determination to go where he has to. Human nature sometimes pushes us to do something grand, but instinct alone tells that little bit of nature when and where to go. This is another example of your marvelous mind. Love U Anne.

Wow! What a great poem. Ain't birds amazing? When they sleep in the trees their claws automatically grip until they wake. I have see small birds like Willy Wagtails in England. I wonder if they fly from Oz? I have just written about a pigeon that won a VC in the war; he saved a troop of men from the Japanese, he flew back to HQ and alerted the men. Thanks for sharing blossom. XXK.

Hi Jimi

I love this one. Glad you revived it again. I understand why you are impressed with this mighty creature, because you most certainly relate with this lovely creature.
Isn't nature divine? Well, of course it is when we consider the many perplexities, inanities, oddities, wonders ... that exist in this world as well as within us.
Great to hear from you, my finely fashioned friend

Yes, I've written on migrating birds and other animals who are driven by instinct and a secret natural desire, which drives them to make incredible migrations. Well done, you paint a wonderful verbal picture of these msrvellous creatures who do these marvellous feats, outstripping any human heroics Jimi, wonderful job with this presentation, well done, blessings, Roy
