It's like a cheer for the NZ team. I like your enthusiasm. It's obvious you care about the outcome. I don't know who won, but I hope your team did well.
Nice rhyming and easy flow, like a "flying machine" rushing across the water. Well done, Steve. Fun to read.

Still waiting - score is now 8-2
They are scheduled to have two races per day but have had to postpone several times because the wind speed is too high. The organisers are a bit jittery after the fatal accident ealier in the qualifying races.
Looking good for tomorrow.

Although this poem is short, your lines snap out from the screen. Your words go straight to the point of the matter. Good rhyming and rhythm even though short. The picture did compliment the piece. All in all I liked the piece.

I saw them as I watched them racing during the San Francisco baseball game when the camera now and showed them in the bay. It was quite a feat watching them go. I later watch them on a different channel and I was amazed at how fast they can go. Sure looks like the key regional win this one. Good luck to the Kiwis.

We picked up one more win today before they cancelled the second race due to high winds, so only one more point needed to win the cup.

Thanks. yes, this is far from a serious work - just thought I'd do my cheerleading best. Now you have to picture me in a short skirt, tight top and jumping up and down with pom-poms!
I could have made it longer, but the way this is going, the cup could have been headed back to new Zealand before the poem was finished! :o)

Why did they cheat? Comes down to money in the end. The Cup has traditionally been associated with sharp practice and tactics designed by the holder who gets to write the rules - size of boat, where held, number of races etc - This time it was blatant cheating where they illegally modified their boat in the lead-up races. I would be more indignant about it if it weren't for the fact that there are several kiwis on the American team who were involved in the whole rort.
Money talks and the whole process is so expensive that the syndicates always rely on billionaire backing to even get off the ground, so it's win at all costs.

Is it fair then to say the US cheated when It was just one boat? It's always about money. Were the cheaters disqualified?

Nancy, if I understand this correctly, it was a penalty on the team that represents USA. It happened in one of the lead-up or qualifying races which were actually in smaller boats. Oracle USA team won the series convincingly, but then it was revealed they had blatantly cheated by adding weight to their boat, giving them a clear advantage.
The jury who decided the penalty could have disqualified the team from the cup altogether, handing it to NZ on a plate, but instead fined them a substantial amount, banned two of the crew involved from taking part in the final series and docked them two points.
The funny thing is that while the NZ crew are nearly all kiwis, the American crew has, I believe, only two Americans (out of 11)
NZ won a further race today, meaning we only need one more point to win the cup...
