Was that Black Caviar in the picture or a picture you chose. It doesn't matter; I was just wondering. I loved horses, the Bible speaks well of them.

amahra, Yes, that is a photograph of the little mare - Black Caviar. I am interested in where the Bible speaks well of horses? Thanks for reading. Cheers, Kay.
-
It's Job 39:19-25 It's God's Ode to his creation, the horse.

Thank you amahra, it gives me food for thought and also I write poems in story form. cheers, Kay.

I don't follow horse racing either, but when a horse like your one in this poem comes along, then, follower or not, everyone sits up and takes notice. It is nice to know that they do get the retirement they deserve. A lovely poem, Kay and I really enjoyed reading it. xsx Sandra

Your words pay tribute to this beautiful horse and I hope she is doing well in her retirement from racing. Your words capture her winning career.

Hi Kace, I love your tribute to Black Caviar and your author notes. Hope ran last week again. She did well, second place, and no whip. We are very proud of her. And you're right nations need heroes. I hope she has a long and good life.

Hi Carolyn, My horsie' friend! Thanks for reading and glad that Hope did well with no whip - the horse was meant to run free. Blessings, Kay.

Very nicely written. Yes, every nation needs a champion. The horse was female as well as the jockey, since the shirt is pink with polka dots. Very well-written. God loves you and I do too.

Hi Kay,
I love horses too but when my husband could no longer go hunting we had to sell them. They eat 24/7 weather they are ridden or not. You have written a fine poem and one I enjoyed reading. I love the name Black Caviar. Well done....blessings, chey

Hi Chey, Horses are in our blood - they do eat all day and don't pay their way! Except Black Caviar brought 8 million dollars in for her owners. Now, she awaits her foal. Love, Kay.
-
8 million? Yikes
-
Oh, yes - she is the fastest sprinter in world racing.

Hullo Aussie ...
I was really interested to read what you have written here about your Australian Horse - Black Caviar and what I like most is the bit about there being no need for a whip.
Watching horse-racing here, it seems that the faster they go, the harder the jockeys crack their whip.
There is nothing to suggest changing and I thank you for sharing this with us.
Love from .... Nanette Mary.

Aussie, another beautiful work my friend. I love horses and I do not follow the races though there is one in my backyard, practically. Black Cavier, a beautiful haunting name. These are definitely some of the most beautiful creatures God has bestowed on this earth. Racing them for material gain seems to be very very wrong. Exposing them to exhaustion and injuries is unforgivable. well done sweet Aussie... jimi

Jimi, Thank you for reading. I love horses and they have been a big part of my life. The owners of Black Caviar shocked the racing world by retiring her, at least they loved her enough to look after her welfare - some owners are greedy. Bless you, Kace.

I enjoy horse racing. Sounds like your Black Caviar was like our Secretariat back in the late 70's. She won our Kentucky Derby (similar to your Melbourne Cup(?)) by over twenty-two lengths.
Anyways... Good poem in honor of this fine animal. A pleasure to read. John

Hello John, Thank you for reading; twenty-two lengths is a major win. Some horses are born to outrun the field. Bless you, Kay.

Good use of occasional rhyme
I like the pairing of pink and polka
blitzed is the perfect word choice to depict a winning racer
You convey well the talent and speed of this horse and her affinity for running with the reminder that no one ever had to whip her
You also depict well the love her nation has for her :-) Brooke

Hello Brooke, Thank you for reading; she is a national heroine and we were surprised when her owners retired her, they thought of her welfare not the millions that she could have won. Cheers, Kay.
