WOW!!!! What a story told within a poem. It was extremely well-written, flowed very well. It painted a clear picture of the victim of the disease. It made me think of the main character in the movie, NOTEBOOK. I am very sorry that this happened to your brother. Sickness, aging, and dest are a part of life, but suck just the same. GREAT JOB!!!

Thank you for the poem. My mother had an asthma attack in 2007 and she experienced a stroke as a result of that. Your poem evoked an image of confusion -- that's what I usually see in my mother's eyes. The poem captured that image of confusion quite well.

I see nothing I do not like, nothing amiss.

Such a sad story in verse and rhyme about the loss of the mind. My uncle and aunt had the same horrific disease that brought his offspring to their knees in prayer. I'm sorry to hear about your brother and his suffering. Nothing can prepare us for such an affliction. But thank God He sent his only begotten Son to overcome death hell and the grave. All the best andGod Bless you.

jlsavelle, this is a remarkable poem. You have captured succinctly and poignantly the true nature of Alzheimers and the world it's sufferers' live in; one of confusion and despair.

I know I'm aged, but I still have a life;
and I love and I cry and I miss my wife
I hope she knows I love her so
Sometimes I'm so puzzled, for where did she go?

It must be so awful to be unable to remember such major things as who your immediate family are, or the death of your wife.

I have just one suggestion, offered with respect;

Then she takes my hand and all she does say - seems a little awkward, to me. Perhaps:
Then she takes my hand and all she will say'

I'm so sorry that your beloved brother suffered, at a relatively young age of this terrible affliction and that his days ended so painfully and tragically. This poem is a loving tribute to both him and all the other sufferers of Alzheimer's. Regards, Jan

These smooth rhymes tell the pain of Altheimers from the patient's standpoint. It is such a lonely disease. It must be confusing for him to not to know the people who come to visit and hard on the family who come to visit.

The car in the pictures gives an idea of how old the patient is.

Keep writing

    You're welcome. I suprise a lot of people by reviewing their older works. I use the read drop down tab and pick Stand Out Writing and than choose one of the topics and click on a poem title I like. That is my path and I will continue to follow it.

Your poem is so personal and sad. The heartbreak is evident. Memories are
what we all have left in the end if God so decides to allow them. I am touched
by your phrasing and poem. Thank you for sharing.

Very poignant and thought provoking. Only someone with direct experience of this life grabbing disease could evoke the emotion and feeling of this illness. Thank you for sharing this wonderful poem.

Very Very touching.Alzheimers can play havoc with one's life and it also affects the lives of all the near an dear ones.The poet has very beautifully brought this fact to light in this poem.
'A life disrupted' is an excellent title or this poem.the content is very good and the rhyming perfect.
A brilliant poem.A must read.I liked it so much that I wish I could save it for later reads.

A raw, unapologetic and beautiful look at a horrific disease. I am sorry for your loss, but thankful that you shared this wonderful tribute through words. The poem is strong and so is your brother's spirit. Thank you for sharing.

Wow what a compelling piece of art and such a harsh ending tp a wonderful brothers life. I'm sorry for that memory as it is forced yo be your last.However, try and let the fact that upyr brother was hone long before his last day here om earth. That poem had great flow and rythym I am interested in the few statements within the poem where you come off your flow and change directions then begin your rhythm again. Very cool
What is that twopoetry types in. One? Is it called any particular thing. Thanks for your time. Would give anything for your review of my poem "take my hand " or "Take my hand"
