Ciao poet, you now have three votes.
I love History and Napoleone was one of my many crushes as a teen.
I was also very intrigued about his private life and I did read about his first wife's passion for flowers.
For many years she filled the Malmaison with flora from many parts of the world and botanists followed Napoleon during his campaigns and collected specimens for her. She designs the gardens in the English style.
I enjoyed the topic, something different from the usual.
PS. Apparenly, Napoleone didn't share her taste and preferred his private gardens at the Malmaison. (wink)
Her gardens homed also strange animals from around the world like black swans, emus, and kangaroos.

This put a grin on my face. Napoleon - the war guy - giving feedback on the garden! I guess even a conqueror can be awestruck by beauty. It's an interesting moment that you caught here so well. Great job.

Michael, your review is most welcome. You have gleaned the meaning I hoped to share convey. Yes, we often forget that Napoleon was a man and not just a warrior. He loved Josephine and he likely applauded her efforts in the garden and loved beauty himself.
