Hi Jim,
this certainly looks interesting. I'm a little concerned already that perhaps her cover could be blown somehow. Perhaps meeting Dana was strictly a coincidence, but the odds seem to be somewhat against it. I look forward to reading more.
Well done my friend.

This was a good read and got me into the heart of the story's opening credits. Now I want to know why she got suspended.
However I am also wondering if the meeting was entirely co-incidence.

"This is a lie. I'm really an FBI field agent, but there are strict rules about divulging that information. In short, you don't in casual conversation."
Why does Fran divulge information to a total stranger as soon as she meets her, by telling her she can't divulge who she really is?
Other than that question, this story is off to an intriguing start. I see it will be filled with mystery and suspense and I will enjoy following it.

Hi, Lorraine. Actually, all she said in that paragraph was that she was an IT security consultant. The rest was her just speaking to the readers through first person narrative. She didn't divulge anything about being in the FBI to Dana.
You've nailed the genre; this will be more of an action-adventure story than the other ones you've read. Glad to have you back for this one.

Oh no! Fran was suspended? I guess you'll show us why. But I think she shouldn't share anything secret with Dana, who could cause trouble for Brian and his invention.
As for kudzu, it's a kind of arrowroot and is edible and nutritious! Americans never learned to eat to before it took over!

You won't have to wait too long to find out why she was suspended. It will make perfect sense when you find out.
I never knew kudzu was edible. I wonder what it tastes like? We sure have enough of it around here in North Carolina!

It's called Japanese arrowroot. Koreans call it chilk. Kudzu is the Japanese word. It's full of starch and you can make a chewy noodle from it as well as other things.

Very well written. You reveal information about both through their meeting and dialogue, and then at th end drop the bombshell that she was suspended from the FBI - and of course that immediately makes us want to read more. A great hook. Count me in. I can see some twists and turns re where this relationship might lead. Fine writing.

Thanks so much, Wendy, and for those 6 stars too. I'm happy to have you along for this ride too. Fran's suspension will make complete sense in the next chapter. What she will do in her time off is the real question.

Hello Jim.
This story has an interesting introduction. You've presented the reader with two self assured, confident women who are sizing each other up. The opening dialogue was interesting from both and certainly leads do what I believe could be some intrigue. To understand the relationship these two have through jobs and other people is a bit revealing even at the beginning. There's potential for crossed swords or crossed purposes as the story moves on.

Thanks so much, Robert. Yes, definitely potential for crossed swords here. Will they become friends or foes? That's the question. There will be one more in the mix who we'll meet soon.

You're welcome, Jim.

Firstly, Jim, well done for getting this sequel to us so quickly. You certainly hit the ground running and we're right back in the story, albeit from a different perspective. I like the way you've done this because Fran was always a character we warmed to and could trust for her integrity. Now we see she's met a very forthright woman working for a Big Pharma company who's clearly going to be plotting to undermine Brian's invention. Fran will need to use her specialism to discover more (I knew you didn't give her that job for nothing in the first book!) and she will have the time now that she's suspended ....but what for? Intriguing, Jim, and a faultless, entertaining introduction which is sounding very inviting. Well done! Debbie

I'm so happy to have you along again for this ride, Debbie. This story will be more of an action-adventure tale, although I'll still devote a lot of time to character issues with some fun parts too. You'll get to see a few old friends from other stories too who work their way into the plot.
You've asked the key questions: What could be the reason for Fran's suspension, and what will she do in her spare time?
Comment from Carol Hillebrenner
This is a really interesting beginning to this new book. Since I read all of the last one, I don't know if part of my attraction is caused by knowing your previous book very well and liking the characters immensely. I am looking forward to Fran's story. It doesn't seem possible someone so hard working that she missed years of her brother's life could be suspended.

Great to have you back for this one too, Carol. It will all become clear in the next chapter why she was suspended. What will she do about it, though? That's the question.

Dana sounds like a classic Australian, or even British, although there is a difference as well, it's good to have a story from Fran's viewpoint, the big girl with an even bigger heart, and the character to bear it, beautifully written Jim, blessings Roy

Thanks, Roy. Glad to have you back for this one. You've met two of the women so far--Fran and Dana--and there will be a third, though unlikely one, introduced in chapter 3.
Do you remember Dana from my golf novels? She was the villain who stole Abby's swing suit. We'll get to see how she's turned out 20 years later.

Oh yes indeed

Well, I am thrilled to see I finally caught the first chapter of one of your novels and of course, it's piqued my interest with a plus sign. Very good. Both Dana and Fran have a story behind them but they aren't sharing...at least not to each other. It will be interesting to find out what Fran was suspended for. Great job!

Thanks so much, Carol. I'm thrilled to have you along for the ride. I hope it keeps your interest.
Both of these characters have appeared in previous novels. This is a sequel to my last one, and you will learn some about it as this story unfolds. I'll do my best, though, not to leave readers in the lurch who haven't read that one.
I'm writing this as I go, so I won't be posting but every 3 or 4 days. There isn't enough time in the day to do too much reviewing while writing and responding to reviews, so I'm afraid I can't start your newest novel right now. It looks like you're posting a chapter a day. Is that one already written?
-
No, I have an idea where it's going but I haven't written it and I do so every morning.... especially since we changed the clocks and I an waking up around 3 A.M. No one to bother me...even the dogs are asleep. LOL
-
I'm impressed! I can't write that fast.
Maybe after I've gotten way ahead of the postings I do, I'll have some time to start this one or your next one.
-
i don't have very many followers so I spend my morning answering reviews and thanking them, then I read all who have sent me requests and finally the replies...after that I write till these tired old eyes can't see any more. I am alone most of the time so I don't have destractions. I would love to see what you think of my style of writing. Take care.
