This 5-7-5 poem takes the vast topic of love and hopes to say something striking about it within a syllable counting form. That's a very big challenge on a very much attempted subject, and I don't think this poem says anything new or striking about mature love. I like better this of mine: She knew him before/ that wrinkle here, that mole there/ failed to shroud his eyes
But - chaque un a son gout.

From my perspective after fifty years of marriage, I have seen and lived the imperfections of the subject. However the woman in me needs the part that I am writing about as it may be rare but without those tender moments I doubt I would have made it. So this was special to me. Thanks for your comments.

Your words speak volumes in your 5-7-5 form. It is so true, mature love takes work as seen in "this love is not found, it's built." Excellent theme for a poem and best wishes for this contest.

I absolutely love to see old couples who look like they still have fun with each other, and the love light still shines in their eyes. I saw an Hispanic older couple in a restaurant last night, smiling and laughing together and they made me smile. So does your poem, which is true, and the picture warms the heart! Good luck in the contest.
