"Superlative" is the only word I can think of to describe this poem. It clearly deserved its first-place finish, and I can't understand why it was not the #1 All Time Best for November. I would've loved to have been there to see the reaction of the WWII heroic, honorees when they heard you reading it. It was an honor for me to read it.

You are too kind, John. I didn't know it at the time, but there were veteran nurses at the ceremony. They all came up to me afterwards. It was a thrill to talk with them.

Thanks, Victoria. When my father was dying of cancer in the VA hospital, Grace was one of his nurses.

This is an engaging story and tribute to an angel here on earth. Grace sounds like a caring selfless person who went beyond the duties of a nurse. Author, I have to ask you, where was Grace Glover from? You mentioned New England, and that she was in her 90s. I'm wondering if she could be a branch of my mother's family. That would be really something.
My mom's mother was a Glover, and my mother's middle name was Grace. Both names are family names and have been passed down. I'm reasonably certain that my grandmother had sisters... lord knows she had daughters! New Englander's all.
Loved this poem, I'm sure Grace did too.

Thanks for the review, Susan. She lived in Camden, Maine. I'm not sure if she was a native. She had two or three sons who also lived in the area.
