Author,
I like the sentiment in your very-well written and illustrated poem.
If more people used the formula you propose in your poem, this world would be such a great place in which to live.
Good luck in the contest.
Blessings,
Cindy

Nicely done. It's too bad that we have our country run by politicians. The good people are all working hard - trying to make ends meet. I am tired of listening to all the lies.

Paul, I am right there with you! it utterly disgusts me how politicians have steered our country to the very edge of oblivion.

Hmm, this has a nice, as you say, mixed rhyme scheme. I think it is made to appeal to all audiences and does not get political or specific. But, that is also a downside, as it is very vague. And that vagueness means the goal is unobtainable.
You cannot solve a problem if you cannot name it.
Good luck in the contest.

You did a great job with the prompt very creative!
The phrase
" Make America Great Again," is a strong political phrase and I almost skipped reading this because of that.
But I am glad I did not, because the message is one of hope for our country.
It will take all of us to mend the broken pieces.
Although I admire the message, I do not have much faith in the fact that will happen.
Politics are so weaponized that the chasm between parties grows deeper and wider each day.
Trickling down to us , who are trying to live good lives.
Your writing is honest with a clear message.
This is well written and presented. The rhymes work well without force and create a tempo that flows nicely.
Thanks for sharing.

K.L. Regrettably, I agree that we are a ship sailing In rough seas with out a rudder.

America has slid into oblivion "not by deeds, but words ye shall know them." Time is running out. Such a big country, a wealthy country that forgets the poor and coloured people scavenging for food in garbage tin's. Nothing is more pleasing to god than the man who when asked for a singlet, "Jesus said if he asks for your singlet, give him your coat also." Too little too late.

Aussie, regrettably, I agree! America today is not, nor sadly will it again be the country I adopted at age six.

The world is sliding into oblivion. It's not too late to turn back to God. Money no longer maketh the man. Humility, love, peace and love for a better world. K xx

The author's words are thought provoking. I enjoyed the author's view
of "It Begins with Me"! As I reread parts of the author's words I felt this
author conveys, acceptance of one another, respect, faith, good works
and being ourselves! The poem flows and connects well.
The artwork is awesome! Great Poem!

I would agree with you that the best thing we can do as a country is love and accept one another. However, can we really say that this country has ever really been great?? From pushing Native Americans off their land to slavery to hate crimes against homosexuals. The list goes on, and terrible things have always happened here.

Most Americans accept the common belief that this is a Christian nation. With that being a commonly held belief, please tell me if you can, why so many who accept this reject by their actions some of the main tenets of Christianity, Love for your fellow man, treat others the way you want to be treated, care for the widows, the orphans, the poor and the disabled. Some of our most popular and honored citizens ignore these principals daily, while espousing the claim that they are ingle handedly going to make America great again. Not being willing to start by themselves doing something great, like for instance, being a good person for a change.

Nimiu, your query is spot on! Why is this so ... God must think we really are lost sheep!
