This story poem, He Wanted Laid, is so very funny as the initial eye-opening request is eventually identified. What a cute and happy verse.

Thank you. I had a great time writing it, and remembering back to when my Matthew was only a little little boy. Now he's a big, ugly guy. Ha ha just kidding. So cute.

Okay, I would like to know exactly what the boy was thinking when he said that statement. Was he being laid down for a nap; that would be my only thought being he was child?

He wanted "Kool-Aid, "but he shortened the word incorrectly to "laid "instead of "Aid. " I don't know why, but his father always short in the words like that, and he must have picked up on it at a young age. The funniest part about it was that his grandmother had no idea that he really just wanted a drink. Thank you for stopping by.

makes sense. sometimes when they are little they drop or add sounds onto a word.

This is extremely funny, well-developed and followed through. Especially with the constraints of poetry it must have been difficult to do. No, you didn't need the language warning, but the fact of it being there ensured all readers were towed into misinterpretation, increasing the fun factor.

Yes, sometimes I wonder whether or not my writing needs a warning. I guess it's best to air on caution. Thanks for your review and comments. Hugs.

Clever grandma to figure it out! A delightful story in a poem and very well written. The child is charming as well. Best wishes for your entry in the contest.

thank you. It was fun to write, especially because I got to revel in memories from when I often babysat my precocious, adorable nephew. Hugs.

That is a good start for a conversation piece as the family gathers together, author. :) I hope our nephew grew out of his short replies so as not to get in trouble with the ladies and the guys. This is a good entry for the Story Poem Contest. thank you for sharing.

he is a grown-up now and is self-employed as a barber, so we love to tell the story at his barbershop. Thank you for your review and comments.

Your skillfully-written poem is clever, entertaining, and SO funny. I like the way you gave several examples of the little boy's creative terms before delivering the main one.

This is really funny and you have expressed in well in a neat little story poem. Kids can come up with some really strange things that almost blow our minds, but we have to remember they are children and sometimes have no clue what they saying.

That is so true. We still tease him about this incident, but he is a good sport. Thank you for your comments and review.

Your story poem was a delight to read. Kids to find a way to mangle the English language and find shortcuts for expressing themselves. But at least Grandma learned how to interpret what Chris wanted. Rod

Cute - We all have our habits and use various shortcuts for words and phrases, but even adults can get into trouble if they are not familiar with what they are talking about.
