It’s absolutely laughable. Trump, his MAGA cronies and the right-wing media have for years been spouting the most vile, horrible, incendiary, violent rhetoric, in a calculated ploy to split the country apart for their own gain. Yet, when his plan backfires, and the lunatics they have empowered with their use of violent language go after him, suddenly it is the Democrats who are causing all the problems and need to "tone down the rhetoric". In reality, unlike MAGA and the far right, Democrats have never condoned violence and, in contrast to Trump and his cronies, have repeatedly denounced it.
Here is a link to an article that identifies 54 cases connected with violence, threats and assaults, in which Trump is invoked as being the inspiration for the crimes committed:

These acts are directly in response to the sickening claims made and invective used by Donald Trump, such as:
• Claiming the US is on the verge of collapse.
• Claiming immigrants are "poisoning the blood of our country" -- a phrase and concept he borrowed (presumably indirectly, as he doesn’t read) from Mein Kampf.
• Promising to "root out the communists, Marxists, fascists and the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country." The latter mimicing the language used by Nazi Germany against the Jews.
• Warning of "a bloodbath" if he loses to the Democrats.
• In reference to illegal immigrants, claiming "In some cases they're not people, in my opinion," and "These are animals, OK, and we have to stop it".
• Described at least two Black prosecutors - Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and New York Attorney General Letitia James - as "animals."
• Describing his opponent’s immigration policies as a "conspiracy to overthrow the United States".
• Suggesting immigrants be kept out by building alligator-filled moats and shooting them in the legs.
And what have the Democrats said that inspired these crazy people the right have created to such revolting acts? They point out Trump is a threat to democracy. That’s about it, and it’s undeniably true. I’ll address that in a different post.
