At Day's End by Debra White
Free Verse Poetry writing prompt entry

At day's end
soap scented children
slow-time
for those
few
extra
moments

I pretend to mind
but secretly cherish
each cuddle
each kiss
before
descending the stairs --

Peace awaits my arrival
and as starved lovers do
we embrace
greedily.

At day's end
in the hours between
crazy and sleep
I am just me.

Writing Prompt
Write a free verse poem. Free verse is a form of poetry that does not necessarily follow to any specific meter patterns, rhyme, or any other pattern. Free verse, despite its freedom, often still has some elements of form. Most free verse does observe a convention of lines and structure.
