The Summer Girl by vkmack 100 Word Dash writing prompt entry Vintage photograph courtesy of googleimages.com |
The girl he loved was a summer fad. Life chased her; she had no need to pursue it. Indeed, she seemed to flee the Furies.
She blew into town in a red convertible, crimson scarf flying. Every day that season, she was his, her bright laughter drifting on the sea breeze. The freshness of her scent clung to his soul. But, when the colors began to bleed from the landscape, a chill descended, and she flew away. The girl drove back onto the road and out of the boy's life, leaving his heart naked and cold in the wintering wind.
