My father took me sky diving
The year I turned eighteen
I never thought I had much in common
With this Semper Fi Marine
He drove us to the airport
The sky, blue as the eye could see
I still can hear the words
Of that Semper Fi Marine
It's a good day for jumping
C'mon let's take a ride
Take my hand, I'll guide you
I will not leave your side
We'll soar on wings like eagles
With our arms stretched open wide
It's a good day for jumping
C'mon let's take a ride
My view of Dad changed that day
Though he still was lean and mean
I saw how much I was like
This Semper Fi Marine
I learned life's one big leap of faith
Enjoy the free fall of the unseen
Character's formed before the rip cord's pulled
Said my Semper Fi Marine
So, it's a good day for jumping
C'mon let's take a ride
Take my hand, I'll guide you
I will not leave your side
We'll soar on wings like eagles
With our arms stretched open wide
It's a good day for jumping
C'mon let's take a ride
He loved God, Corps and country
Worked hard for our family
Lived life by his own rules
Always the Semper Fi Marine
So I learned about life, faith, and trust
The year I turned eighteen
I'm so glad God made my dad
A Semper Fi Marine
One day when this life is over
And I wonder was it all a dream
I'll hear the words of my daddy
My Semper Fi Marine
It's a good day for jumping
C'mon let's take a ride
Take my hand, I'll guide you
I have not left your side
So soar on wings like eagles to
God's arms they're open wide
It's a good day for jumping
C'mon let's take a ride

Author Notes
Six weeks ago my father was diagnosed with cancer, we found out it has already reached stage four. We are now waiting for God to take him home. I wrote this song for him and was able to sing it to him. I wish I could show you the video...
The repeating stanzas are the chorus and the fifth stanza that breaks the patter of the rest is the bridge.
Thank you for your reviews.
