Author Notes
I was a teenager at the time of the 1962 Cuban missile crisis. I hugely admired the courage and resolve shown by JFK in standing up to Khruschev and Castro. It was terrifying, but I had no doubt it was necessary. A lesser man might have sought a *Chamberlain solution* - a fudged compromise that would have raised the stakes even higher - and who knows where we would be today. Despite his many flaws, he was a great man and a great leader.
