I always see my 41 year old daughter,
Adrienne, when I envision a loving
and caring mother. I've been living with
her, my son-in-law, and two very
energetic grandchildren, since my
dear husband suddenly passed away
three years ago. He was such a beacon
of light, and was so happy to be a
grandfather.
I attended both of my grandchildren's
labor and delivery. With her first pregnancy, I could see her blossoming
and glowing with the excitement of a
new mother. She went to every obstetrics appointment with joyful
anticipation. My son-in-law went with
her to find out the sex of my granddaughter with a sonogram.
Us four grandparents waited back at their
house in their living room to hear
them tell us the gender reveal. When
they arrived home, they had a small
bag and pulled out a pink baby outfit,
as us four grandparents exclaimed,
"A baby girl, so happy!!!" Then, two
years later, our little grandson Deacon
was born, another family celebration.
Our, "Navy Baby," became our grownup
young woman shining with her
Godly maternal love for her two
babies.
For Adrienne, our hardworking,
busy, and very devoted mother to
my angel husband's and my
precious grandchildren. For all her
awakenings at wee hours of the
morning to breastfed them. For
becoming more mature and more
responsible, and putting her children
first. For being protective of them,
tending to them when they're sick
or skinned their knees. For praising
Jesus, always and praying the
unique prayers only mothers know
from deep within them, still hearing
their fetal heartbeats, hearing them
call out to her. This is my cherish
and great love. My beauteous
high school cheerleader daughter
one day years ago, to becoming
a supreme example of a mother.
Happy Mother's Day!
