Mom Likes Me Best by prettybluebirds Dialogue Only Writing Contest contest entry |
'I learned a lot from Mom yesterday, Roger. Now I know she likes me best." "Ahh, you don't know what you're talking about. What makes you think Mom likes you better than me, Ruth?" "Because I said so." "Huh!" "It's one of the things Mom taught me; to use logic to make my point. When I asked Mom why I had to clean my room, she answered because I said so. Because I said so is a logical answer when you want someone to know you mean it." "That's the stupidest thing I ever heard." "No, it's not. Mom gave me a lesson about the weather too. She said my room looked like a tornado had gone through it. Now I will know what to look for if an actual tornado happens. And, oh yeah, I didn't realize Mom was religious, but she told me I better pray my room was cleaned up before she looked at it again. I did pray, but it didn't work. I guess God doesn't like housework either." "So, it still doesn't prove Mom likes you better than me." "Just wait, I'm not finished yet. I think Mom wants to give me something too. She said I was going to get IT when Dad got home. I don't know what IT is, do you?" "Ha, ha, I can't believe you're that dumb. It means Mom will rat on you to Dad and he will paddle your butt. Ha, ha, ha." "Well, let me tell you what else Mom said. It proves for sure that she likes me a lot better than you. Mom said she hoped I would have kids one day, and they would turn out like me. So there."
