I watched the Super Bowl with my man,
Although I'm not a very big fan.
And at first, he didn't know which side
To choose, so then he had to decide.
But once my husband made up his mind,
No indecision was there to find.
The Buccaneers deserved their shot,
And Kansas City most surely did not.
So we stocked up on various chips,
Armed ourselves with adequate dips,
Took our positions for the night,
Prepared for the most remote kind of fight.
Though we somehow missed the first half hour,
Our determination never soured.
We watched as the Chiefs incurred penalties,
Much to Jorge's delight, near to ecstasies.
Though not a Tom Brady fan in the past,
He made peace with it now, at long last.
He screamed and hollered what he had to say,
And thrashed about, with me in the way.
I came through it, bodily parts intact,
What would otherwise have been an attack.
But it's entertainment, only, for sure,
An American sport, with a strange allure.
The points added up, for the Buccaneers,
As Jorge let loose his vociferous cheers.
While the Chiefs only fell further back,
With Tampa Bay clearly on the right track.
Kansas City was limping through the end,
Tampa's victory in sight, around the bend.
When the Buccaneers made football history,
Tom Brady was chosen, their MVP.
Coach's mom, ninety-five, had a front-row seat,
Brady's young daughter jumped way off her feet,
Holding that trophy up high in her hand,
A moment of triumph for Tampa Bay fans.
My husband was happy as he could be,
As he soaked in all he wanted to see.
We were grateful for all the fun that night,
But being together, that was our delight.

Author Notes
I haven't watched a full Super Bowl with my husband Jorge in several years. Last year I think I watched the halftime show with Jorge, and then the end of the game. But this year we made a night of it, and I didn't regret it, even though he tends to "watch" the game in a very physically active manner, lol. He is not lacking in enthusiasm!
I am very grateful to God for having such a wonderful husband, and that we can have fun together.
The Super Bowl was between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs, with the Buccaneers winning the game, 31-9. The Buccaneers also walked away with the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy.
The Buccaneers' victory also culminated with some very touching family moments:
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians, at 68 the oldest coach in NFL history to win the Super Bowl, gave a shout-out to his 95-year-old mother, in the stands.
- Tom Brady's three children joined him on the field to celebrate his Most Valuable Player achievement -- Jack (13), Benny (11) and Vivian (8).
