The Mystic Bridge

The bridge
beckoned,
a silhouette against the mist,
its span obscured,
enshrouded
by the haze.
The other side
a mystery,
for few have crossed,
and those . . .
                       never returned.
 
What lies in wait,
lurking
in the circling
miasma
of gray vapor?
