A chapter in the book The Heart of Poetry
The Light that Dims
by Carolyn 'Deaton' Stephens
The light that dims
in lovers eyes where once the ardent flame did glow Is naught that love has left the heart but mellowed sweet to comfort soul It once shined bright with youth's delight it beamed with smile to fuel the night lover's embrace could not be quelled nor spirits dampen this magical spell The light that dims in lovers eyes where once the ardent flame did glow now toils of years taps energies store yet inner joy reigns ever more Be saddened not embrace thy age even roses vibrant color fades The light that dims perpetually will shine Pressed between Love's pages of time |
