A chapter in the book The Heart of Poetry
The Stream
by Carolyn 'Deaton' Stephens
Quietly by the stream he sat with random thought
Absorbing sounds profound, and oh so clear Water's symphony plays on rocks and rills At peace within himself and all the world With pen in hand he touches pad with care Warm words of beauty flow straight from his heart He waits not on a muse but plunges in With memories long thought to be obscure Reflections of his life now brought to view His pen transcribes the joy of inner man Humility and grace were all he sought Riches and fame were naught of great appeal His mirrored soul proclaimed a life of love For all who dwelt with him in modest home A wife and child confirm his diligence Word's transformation affirmed in poet's bliss Quietly by the stream he sat with random thought Absorbing sounds profound, and oh so clear |
