A chapter in the book The Heart of Poetry
Awareness
by Carolyn 'Deaton' Stephens
Have you ever gone outside and stood perfectly still Allowed the power of the night to overtake you As the twilight transcends the last rays of the sunset Stars pop out and become a canopy Over the Heavens above you Moon seems to hang by an invisible thread Bound to the sky by our Maker's hand Hazy mountains in the distance silhouette the horizon The night-bird's call thrills the heart and soul Pungent fragrance of roses in the garden A ker-plop sound as a frog jumps from a lilly pad Into the pond at the base of the hill Shivers of delight create a slight chill I dwell on all that is And encircle my arms to warm myself I turn to take in the tranquil beauty of the sight But something is absent from this 'almost' perfect night And then I am Aware It Is You |
