Fractured Glass

by EILEEN LAW

Spin the story for all to hear
For it protects the seller
Let it fall to deafened ear
Out to you from the teller

Cutting lies intended to save
This broken heart of mine
Terror taken from those who gave
I'm running again in time

I've learned the truth is always better
Sometimes too much to bear
I admit it here in this letter
For all who wish to hear

The image shattered my inner child
to seek perfections visage
Cracks inside are not so mild
to those who are addicted

I Am Not Perfect writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a poem about a flaw that you see in yourself.

Ahh the years of my youth that forced lies in order to protect myself or my siblings from abuse. These habits carried forward into my adulthood. Of course through all of my scars I learned the truth was easier and less stressful than the lies. How do you remember them all? I did swing too hard the other way, became overly truthful? Yes, but I have found the perfect blend. The truth is easier than any lie. When its hurtful, I remain silent. (whenever possible)
