Allegoria Della Primavera

A chapter in the book Valse de poèmes

Hymn To Spring

Flora the goddess of Flowers,

At the time of nature’s rebirth,

The stormy March’s wind Zephyrus,

Kidnaps and marries nymph Chloris,

Beautiful covered in roses,

Who transforms into deity,

She becomes the goddess of Spring,

The eternal bearer of life.

Layers of flowers scattering.

In diaphanous layers of white.

Here the Three Graces are dancing,

Venus is standing in her arch,

And there Mercury clothed in red,

Armed with his sword and his helmet,

With his caduceus aiming through,

Trying to reach for one sin’s fruit,

And blindfolded Cupid aiming,

With an arrow of love-dazzling.....
