Hotoke

by Katiemae1977

Black trees like silhouette cut outs
over dirt
white
winter sky

And me
blowing breath of wind
Folding clouds into a face
or a bear

Or a sacred bird with wings bowed
in awe of my fine artistry

I can crease and tear them
to roll across my origami sky

Embellishing the heavens
with playful pandas

or dragons

breathing
cloud
fire

Hotoke most commonly means a dead person. Someone's soul.
Figuratively speaking it means someone near and dear to one's heart

Yes, I got the phrase origami sky from this poem which I wrote in college in 1982. I just recently discovered it amongst some old papers.
