Chair

From attention's center,
you command the room.
 
~

I rest in the hammock
of your palm,
as it sways suspended
over a steep canyon.
 
In comfort, on edge,
at the mercy of your grip,
clenching and releasing
on a whim.

Wrapped in cashmere,
soft, yet thin,
I shiver in the hush
of muted whispers.
My eyes drawn
to the sting
of your cold, bent air.

I am chained
to your sentence ellipses.
 
Succumbing to the anchor
of your shadowed company,
I dangle by a thread
of missing words.
 
~
 
Still hung up
on the presence
in a vacant chair.
