New Word for Falling in Love

The topic for this contest is: New Word for Limerence

In 1977, American psychologist Dorothy Tennov created the word limerence for "falling in love." Writers are also great at creating new words. Thanks to Shakespeare we have "bedazzled" and Herb Caen gave us "beatniks" and Robert Heinlein gave computer geeks "grok."

So can you do better than limerence? Write a short story 500 to 1000 words where one character has fallen in love. Show us what it looks like, and create a new word or phrase that describes that crazy state of mind.

Creative and humorous approaches are welcomed. But contest voters will be asked to consider the topic when making a choice for a winner.

The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 28.00 member dollars. There are 11 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 72.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.

Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
