School of Hard Knocks

This contest is inspired by Terry Broxson's post of August 18th (The School of Hard Knocks). This gives a fine definition of what exactly the School of Hard Knocks is.
You are asked to write a true story of 300-750 words (specify the word count in the author's note) about something you yourself learnt by living (this should be outside of the classroom context). Detail the event and describe the consequences it had on your life. Above all enjoy writing your essay.
I thank Terry for being the 'Patron of the Arts' for this contest.

The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 24.00 member dollars. There are 12 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 72.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.

Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Saturday, September 3, 2022.
