Dude, that is like soooo cliche.

Poetry Contest
Write a poem based on a cliché or oft repeated phrase. It can support the premise of the cliché or dispute it. You might discuss a notion we take for granted and even dispute it. Perhaps you have an answer to a riddle we assume has no answer. "What came first, the chicken or the egg?"

This can be humorous or serious. Any form of poetry, no prose.

Why does a chicken cross the road?
Is a bird in the hand worth two in the bush?
As the tree is bent so is the twig inclined ... true?
History is doomed to repeat itself.
I think, therefore, I am.
Butter! Parkaaaaayyyyy ...
The only thing certain is death and taxes ... hmmm ... nothing else?
The wages of sin is death.
A stitch in time saves nine. (I have no idea what that means.)
Blonds have more fun.
Women should be barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen. AHHH! It's on now!!!

Pick a cliché or oft quoted phrase and include it in your author's notes.

Present your piece however you wish. There's no restrictions on presentation, length, form or style.

It must be poetry and not prose, that's the only rule. May the best man win. To the victor goes the spoils. You can't win if you don't compete. It isn't whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game. I am not on steroids!

For the committee: To make it easy on you (for a change), there's no telling how some of our members might interpret this. :))
If it's a poem, it can pass!

The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 35.00 member dollars. There are 11 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.

Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Thursday, October 29, 2015.
