Pulp Fiction
The topic for this contest is: Pulp Fiction.
Write a piece of pulp fiction. The topics accepted are Science Fiction (not fantasy), 'Swords & Sandals', detective stories; and stories of the weird and unexplained. Horror elements are welcome but only with the parameters of what is set out previously.
With characters like Conan, Tarzan, Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers and Dick Tracy as benchmarks, create new original characters and stories that would fit with this era of story telling. In the spirit of these kind of works, the entries can be of an episodic nature. You can drop us into the action with a brief "previously" prior to the main body of work; you can also leave it on a cliff hanger if so desired. Must contain some level of physical action, and terse language. Above all it must have a sense of fun and adventure.
Write a story that somehow incorporates the topic. The story does have to be specifically about the topic.
Creative approaches are welcomed. But contest voters will be asked to consider the topic when making a choice for a winner.
Minimum length 500 words. Maximum Length 7,000 words..
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 24.00 member dollars. There are 12 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 72.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
