Write a story that starts with this sentence: "The silence, filled with hope, was shattered by ____". You can add to this sentence any word(s) that you choose.
Your story must start with the sentence above. You can add to the sentence. You have the option to put it in quotes (for dialogue) and to change the punctuation at the end for proper grammar.

One entry per person. Minimum length 700 words. Maximum Length 7,000 words. Recommended length 2,000 - 3,500 words. If you are the current title holder for this contest you are not eligible.
The winners will be selected by the FanStory.com Contest Committee. The committee will read and discuss the entries. A winner will be announced approximately one to two weeks after the deadline passes.
