A lovely poem based on the Bible story that we all read when at school. You were a worthy winner and I enjoyed reading your poem. The picture that goes with it is perfect. Well Done Regards Dorothy

Thank you so much. You are right, she was living with a man that was not her husband. I guess I took poetic license, I had to use the word "flexible" and it fit. I have since reworked the poem to match the story in the Bible should I want to read it on open mic somewhere.

Congrats Betty for winning the top prized in this contest. The story of the well is wonderful. No more worries.

Arriving in the city she bid the people go, to
witness this man who proclaimed himself Christ.
Upon opening the door to her paltry home,
spacious possibilities flooded her mind,
her heart overflowed with love.

Very beautifully written.
Lovingly expressed.
Beautiful testimony of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Arriving in the city she bid the people go, to
witness this man who proclaimed himself Christ.
Upon opening the door to her paltry home,
spacious possibilities flooded her mind,
her heart overflowed with love.

And to God be all the glory.
Good luck in contest.

Your other write ''Entitlement'' just stole my heart.and here is the second beautiful work.
A nice free verse narrating the encounter of Mary Magdalene with the jesus christ.
I adore the end lines for it just tranforms her motion,as she was a snail first but then become a butterfly.excellent

This is one of my favorite stories and I love how you retold it here, using all the required words. This is a beautiful free verse poem. You have done a wonderful job in this poetic re-telling of Jesus' encounter with the woman at the well. I hope you get many votes for this.

Thank you. I have gotten so many wonderful reviews, but I did not win the contest. I am glad though that it touched your heart.

Betty, I just checked, and sure enough you DID win the contest... your poem tied with another so both of you are winners. Great job!

What a beautifully written re-telling of the story of Jesus and Mary Magdalene, the beautiful, husband-less young woman that Jesus bade give him cool water to drink after His and the disciples long and arduous journey..

She has been called the second-most important woman in the New Testament, next to Mary, the mother of Christ. It is almost universally agreed today that characterizations of her as a repentant prostitute are completely unfounded. In apocryphal texts, she is portrayed as a visionary and leader of the early movement whom Jesus loved more than he loved the other disciples.

The name Mary occurs numerous times in the New Testament. There are several people named Mary in the Gospels. There also are several unnamed women who seem to share characteristics with Mary Magdalene. At different times in history, Mary Magdalene has been confused or misidentified with almost every woman in the four Gospels, except the mother of Jesus.

Well done, and a fantastic weaving of these eight words into a beautiful story...

I recognized it right away and I loved it. All of the words were used as mentioned in the writing prompt. "She had come to the well troubled but left with such joy she could hardly contain it", a lovely line.. Good luck in the contest. Debbie
