I hope he learnt his lesson and realised it was because of your good nature that he wasn't suspended.
I've always thought boys don't waste their time or energy on grudges whereas for some females, its a badge of honour. Entertaining chapter Yvonne, I'm still chuckling.

Hello Yvonne,
I can relate somewhat with some of your stories. I worked as a spec-ed aid for seven years. Occasionally I would be called on to sub for some teacher. Middle school was by far the most trying group. While most of the kids in high school were on their way to maturing, there were always the exceptions to the rule. One day I was in the hallway greeting students when a tall, lanky girl who had a penchant for getting in trouble and who obviously wanted attention came strolling down the hallway. She looked so different, but I couldn't place it. It wasn't until I got home and one of my kids mentioned that she had shaved her eyebrows that it made sense. Good lord I'm glad I don't do that work anymore. Well done gal. Very entertaining. Have a blessed day gal.

From all the horror stories I hear about regularly these days, I wouldn't want to teach or drive a school bus anymore. A good friend of mine who is 78 and still in good shape has been driving a bus for about 11 years, and las year he got punched by a student. The only real problem he's ever had. Thanks for sharing.

you succeeded at manipulating both.
I can't comment about the difference in adaptability as I have raised six daughters, have seven granddaughters and one grandson.

They were fun jobs. I'm the opposite. All the children, grandchildren, and greats are boys. I always wanted seven little boys of my own.

(You know someone has a real problem when they overact to be corrected, and rightfully so. Why do they feel so entitled? This problem is getting worse.)
--I never got used to the little girls going to the restroom in groups.
(Y, I went to a Catholic school taught be rugged Nuns. We went to the bathroom when they told us we could--same time every day--and the Nun came with us. Stood in bathroom. You basically did what you had to do, washed your hands and went back outside to the Hall. Lined up quietly and went back to your classroom. No drama, no talking, no fooling around with the water. No nothing. Lol.)
-- If you have differences with a boy, it's all over in a minute and no grudges held. Girls can hold a grudge into eternity.
(Ditto here. Yvonne, I never liked having a woman boss.)
--However, what wasn't funny was one boy who had graduated from high school and couldn't read.
(This continues to be a growing problem, and the situation is getting worse. These schools are not doing a service to these children, and obviously, their parents are No help. To make matters worse, it is the taxpayer who has been funding their lack of education which was nothing more than an overpaid babysitting service. So much for "No child left behind.")
Y, this is a story that people can relate to. Thank you for sharing your memories with us. You made me smile. Thankfully, you are now retired. Xo. M

Thank you for this great review. I don't remember the nuns accompanying us to the restroom. I would have hated that.

They came and opened the bathroom door and stood inside the "Lavatory"
Also, everyone went to the bathroom at a set time every day. It sort of was good training for when you have to work in the real world. Lol. Xo. M

Or the eye roll with a sigh! Lol. School seems to be very different over there in some ways. We would never graduate someone who couldn't read - I am very glad you got him a tutor, and he will never forget your kindness.

Love your stories. I always preferred the boys too. They had a little spark, even in their mischief and when they tried things I always somehow got the better end of it, and they respected it.Girls always had that "too cool for school" look, with that slight shoulder shrug which was intended to demean!
