I can relate to this poem, being a daddy's girl myself.
The youngest memory of my dad was sitting on his lap [This first line sounded just like me and my dad; except I didn't suck my thumb and he would read me Bible stories and sing me hymns.

Amahra, I love hearing that you too were a daddy's girl, sitting on your lap and having such memories of him reading Bible stories and singing. It really doesn't get any better than that! That's my favorite part about writing about these stories because there are so many that can relate, but sadly so many who say that they wish they had some of those memories. You and I are truly blessed my friend. And I thank you so much my friend for the lovely review and words. Much appreciated! : )

This is a fine Father's Day poem. It doesn't seem that long ago that I sat on my father's lap, but now In have held my grandchildren in my lap. Where does the time go?

Thank you so much Paul, I love that you passed that awesome action on to your grandchildren. As that is so important to know they are so loved. And I know what you mean about where does the time go. As my poem about raising family, but don't blink explains I blinked too many times and now I am 67 years old. As it goes something like this, "so much time has passed every time I blink, now I am my parents age when I thought they were extinct." I am sure I had a better rhyming scheme, but you get my point. Haha!
Thanks Paul for the awesome review and comments, as you're so very kind.

This poem, Daddy's Girl, is a beautiful memory of a great father who left lots of fond moments for his daughter to recall for times like this.

A very telling tribute to a wonderful dad. No sense in repeating what you know, but you were very lucky to have him all the days of your life. .......................

Thank you so very much for your very kind review Tom. You are so kind and I appreciate all the word you said, as well as the ones you didn't repeat... I knew exactly how you meant that, and you are also very sweet.
I also want to wish you a very Happy Father's Day, because you are truly one of the best!

Debi,
What a delightful tribute to a loving father. You were indeed fortunate to have a father that was so affectionate and involved in your life. I hope your memories last forever.

This is a lovely Fathe's Day poem Debi, honouring the love you shared and the wonderful memories you will always have. My Dad passed in 1977, a lifetime ago, but I still see his face, his eyes, they always stay with us. Good luck in the contest,
cheers,
valda

This is a very nice memorial to a lovely father/daughter relationship. The rhyme and meter do it justice and carry a kind of lilt that is reminiscent of how a child would speak.

Thank you so much Nancy. You are so very kind and I appreciate your lovely comments. My dad was always proud to tell people that I was daddy's girl, and since I miss hearing it, it felt good to write about it. Thanks again my friend!

I this is a wonderful poem in honor of your Dad. The last verse made me shed a tear. We know we all have to die but it is always sad. It is great that you have such happy memories of things you did with your dad.
