Wow, I enjoy this remarkable poem. That's amazing you were just daydreaming one day and come with this right off the top of your head. The way you describe flying in a plane felt fo real as if I were that close to the sky. Great poem.

This interesting poem has a bit more structure and tells a good historical story. When the lines rhyme, they are good, but the unrhymed lines throw the rhythm off a bit. Nice effort!

Wow! This had me engaged with your amazing word structure from beginning to end. I found myself rooting for the one in red. Sad that they shall score no more.

I don't know if this story is accurate, but it gives me a few moments to imagine what it may have been like for The Red Baron. I can't help but thinking about Snoopy!

This is actual history from WW1. But Snoopy was not part of that. Thank you for your review. I really appreciate it!

What an excellent story you have shared with us and I think it all came from a daydream. L O L This is a bit of historical fiction but the intensity is real and the vibrant action of each pilot is well documented in this battle for air supremacy. Thanks for sharing it with us. You did a great job!

Most people don't know the story of Richthofen. In all likelihood, he was suffering from depression, thus the belief that he intentionally flew so far behind enemy lines, and possibly purposefully over an Australian gun emplacement while being chased by a British plane. He was shot in the torso - but it's not certain by whom. Aussie troops found him after he landed, but he was already dead.
Interesting you chose him as a subject.

Well, thank you for your insight and review. That is true there is much controversy to this day on whether he was shot down by Roy Brown or the Australian gun crew.

I must admit I've been aware of the famous Red Baron, the marvellous Baron Von Richthofin, was credited with many kills, why he would make himself so obvious with a red plane is beyond, I guess that's a little bit of boyish bullet proofness for you, beautifully written Harry, well done, blessings Roy

Oh! This is a highly entertaining story-in-a-poem. I wish you had entered it in a contest. :)) Poor Red Baron!

"a speeding bullet strikes the Baron in the face

the burning triplane spirals downward in a spin

crashing with a thud into the desolate plain..." Excellent!

Keep daydreaming because this is a great story/poem. It keeps the reader enthralled all the way through. I remember our boys were part of the burial of the Red Baron. Honor among enemies. Well done!
