Whenever someone mentions the Red Baron, I can't help thinking of the Peanuts character Snoopy and the sequence from one of the Peanut's TV specials.
I really enjoyed this. Good rhyme and meter and you tell your tale so well.

This poem, Last Flight of the Red Baron, left out the World War I fighting ace, Snoopy the Dog. That is an historic name and carries an infamous reputation. Nice poem.

I think your piece captures the roiling emotions that the pilots must have felt as they went through the ups and downs of a dogfight. The plane lurching up and down, through barrel rolls and loop the loops, the stunning moment when the bullet hits the pilot in the face and he spirals down to his doom. They were the knights of the air. The story of Werner Voss is maybe even more dramatic. But I do think it might be better as a short story. estory

In poetry there is always a pattern of meter. And either you rhyme or you do not. This has some rhyming and some free verse, there is no set syllable count either. Your story came the cleary but this was in spite of the writing. Go to a poetry club or go to the home icon and find poetry dances and see all the kinds of poetry there are. Go to the social icon and find a poetry club people there can help you. That's how I learned. Karen

Well, Karen I was thinking about that but I am not trying to win a Pulitzer Prize lol! I just write what comes to my mind. And the interesting thing is: People either like it or they don't lol! It's all about the fun!!!
