Okay, now I'm totally confused. A lot of statements are being made with no explanations. Why was Kathy ostracized? Why do the others envy her marriage? Are the rest divorced? Can't be. They're with mates. Who showed up that cost Caressa the 20 dollar bet? Didn't anyone like the mother who died?

Hi. Most of this is included in Parts 1, 2, and a great deal of answers come in Part Four.
I think a lot becomes clear as the story concludes.
Stories told in Parts are sometimes confusing. Sorry about that.

while Sylvia and her wife sat with their daughter in another. (did I miss something here? Is Sylvia married to a woman?)

Good gracious, this family refuse to be united even in their grief.

I found no nits and thoroughly enjoyed how you put each family member's thoughts and "daggers" in separate narratives.

A job well done. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

Hugs,
Aki

Good morning, Patty

Strong continuation. You've captured the myriad of emotions and to some degree regrets your characters experienced during the funeral. My next question is what will happened during the reception? Enjoyed.

Out of sixes.

Take care and stay safe,

Ray

Perfect that they had all come... and who is "she"? Somebody has a plan, and it uses the visitors, perhaps as cover. Hmmm... I'm stumped.

I had a sneaking suspicion Jane was still alive. Now I'm pretty sure of it. Will her plan work? It doesn't seem this family wants anyone trying to put things back together.

I bet the headache from the mental daggers was overwhelming. This piece is very well written and i liked the addition of the thoughts of the people as they waited. No problems noted

Hi Patty. Your story is very interesting. She took up the challenge and is following through. Well described, clear and with a good plot. We'll see what will happen at the reception. Marilyn

Hi Patty,
The fir is about to fly and
the fireworks are set to go.
one more chapter 'll start the show.
Ho Ho Ho.
I couldn't resist it LOL
Anyways, it is a good interesting chapter that is good in building the suspense of the story. But you might consider rewriting the sentence that starts: As the years...
It is too long and awkward as it is presented. Just reword it
and make several separate sentences.
Over all it is a good story.
Best regards,
K River

Patty,
I enjoyed reading your story so far. This sounds so true unfortunately of some families one hears about in reality. You did a great job the setting of the church & the attendees. You always pick a great place to end with readers wanting more.

familial cracks could be senses.

Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the next chapter in this dysfunctional group. Jan
