Hi there Debbie
Squirrels are unique creatures. Buys little folk who hide nuts and anything they can for storage. We have a huge weeping willow out back and it house at least 4 families. It is fun to watch then on the electrical lines scurrying back and forth

good use of scurry, stopping and stare.
Squirrels are funny folk. They hide their nuts in flower boxes and all over the lawn. Then they cannot locate them later.
Must be nature's way to distribute new trees far away from the original tree.

Squirrels are a funny animal, if kept from your attic. They crack me up when they play and chase one and other. Although, come to thinkof it, they leave a mess on my deck in the fall witha the nut shells asvthey gather there food..,
Cute entry for the contest... John

Lovely senryu and photo choice. Well penned. I've noticed that scurrying squirrels do stop to stare back especially when my dog, Tippie, runs after them (lol). Thanks for sharing, Deb

And that just about sums up the scurrying squirrels, staring back at us. Your form is well done and the syllable count is good. Fun, short poem. Carolyn

Squirrels - such busy creatures, always crunching and munching on something. Scurry is a good word to describe them!
Your little poem flows really nicely with your well-chosen words and use of assonance and alliteration.
Great job!

Debbie, you are very observant. I think Squirrels look back because they have a lot to remember. What was observed, one afternoon after a strong wind broke a limb off a pecan tree, I saw a single squirrel bury one of six pecans in each of six different places. How does it remember all these different places? The only difference I found later was that this same Squirrel had hidden over a peck of pecans in one small spot in my attic. Thanks for sharing with your friend, Bob

Pretty smart for rodents aren't they. I am lucky if I can find my glasses in the morning. I have squirrels who like to nest in my roof too. Thanks so much, my friend~Debbie

Squirrels are fun animals to watch. They're such stinkers. I enjoyed reading your poem. It described squirrels perfectly. Great poem.

Nice poem and it speaks a truth. However, I cannot help but add that the squirrels around here take things even a step further. Here, they'll even sit back on their hind legs and defy you.
Thanks for sharing this. JW
