Free 'Verses' Rhyme
Don’t think free verse will be my thing
To go and write just anything,
That comes to mind then put it down
Make no sense, and others frown.
Use fancy words I would not say
In conversations every day
My friends I know I’d not impress
They’d look and say “Oh what a mess”.
Can’t understand a word she’s said
Not sure why she has been misled.
She used to write with rhyming word
But what she says now’s just absurd.
I hope one day she soon will see
Free style is not our poetry.
I know there’s some who will debate
And challenge me before too late.
They’ll try to tell me, change your style
Just let your words be free a while.
Still I will say just what I think
I like the words when they all link,
That flows and rhymes with meter right
The syllables in ordered sight
So let’s agree to disagree,
For I will rhyme and you stay free.

Author Notes
I know we all have our favourite poetic style and there is always the free stylers verses the rhymers and both have much poetic merit, however at times I do find some free style quite difficult to understand the writers intention and often wonder what I have just read.
Some free style is so esoteric it only makes sense to the author but other free style is beautifully written and the intention jumps out at you.
Personally I like traditional rhyming poetry and most of my work has set syllable count and rhythm, however I have written free style and found it liberating.
I write this poem as a bit of lighthearted fun and wish no offense to any poets as I do enjoy many poems written in both styles
Thank to SCHATZLING for the image Two faced
Thanks for reading my work
Cheers Christine
