Seven Years
Although you're gone, you're still around
Deep in our memories you're found.
We think of you with fond recall
Our husband, father, standing tall.
Today the mark is seven years
And we'll remember you through tears.
But sadness comes when mem'ries fade
Ours of you Barn, so strongly made.
Your Eastern star still shines real bright
For us to see you every night.
We love and miss you every day,
With us your guiding light will stay.

Author Notes
Today 14/4/2018 is the seven year since my beautiful father Barney passed away suddenly. He was 88 and was my mentor in poetry and he wrote the most beautiful poetry, unpublished but certainly worth reading and I have his collection.
I often feel his presence when I write and feel maybe he is watching me and reading my work also.
Every year I write and put a poem in our local paper and this is the one I wrote for him this year 'Seven Years' I miss you Dad.
Thanks to GaliaG for the lovely image Stars abstract.
On the day my father passed away we read a letter he had written to be read on the day he died and in it he told us that if we went outside at night and looked to the East we would see his star. That night I did and there was only one star in the sky in the East so I guess that was him saying goodbye but he would alway be there.
Thank your for reading my work
Cheers Christine
