A disbarred lawyer takes a public defender captive.
Kidnapped by HarryT
The Prisoner writing prompt entry

Jason, a disbarred lawyer, held Susie, a public defender, chained in his basement. As weeks turned into months, Susie’s fear lessened when he did not assault her. And she believed him when he told her he only wanted to keep her safe from the harshness of the legal world.

Jason showed a pseudo kindness, which Susie misinterpreted as love. As her old world faded, she saw Jason as her protector rather than her captor. Susie felt loyalty to Jason. He unchained her and she stayed. Paradoxically, she thought she was in love with the very person who kept her prisoner.

Writing Prompt
In 100 words, or less, write a short story--not necessarily a flash-fiction, though it could be--on the theme/subject/topic of 'prisoner'. It could be literal or metaphoric.

Author Notes
Story is an example of the Stockholm syndrome. A theory that explains why some victims of abuse or captivity may develop a psychological bond with their abuser or captor. It's a coping mechanism that can develop over time, where victims may feel positive feelings toward their abuser or captor. This can include feelings of love, sympathy, or empathy.
